MODEL REVIEW / 4 MIN READ

A model review checklist

Questions to carry with a model before you export or pass it to someone else.

Source and purpose

What was the model made from? Are you permitted to use those inputs? What is the model intended to help someone do? Keep those answers with the project.

Scale and coordinates

Check the units, orientation and transformations. Compare a known dimension or landmark where one is available. Reopen the export in the receiving tool and check again.

Shape and neighbouring structures

Inspect local detail as well as the overall shape. Look at narrow regions and structures that sit close together. Record where an edit changes a relationship that matters to the task.

History and uncertainty

Keep the original model, processing settings and version information. Record warnings, manual edits and any checks that could not be completed. Do not turn an unresolved question into an approval label.

Handoff

Tell the next person what was checked, what remains uncertain and what the file should be used for. This is an engineering learning checklist, not a clinical acceptance protocol or a substitute for qualified review.
